The muscle that lets your eye blink is the fastest muscle in your body. It allows you to blink up to 5 times a second. On average, you blink 15 000 times a day. That’s about 10 times per minute, or more than five million times a year.

Studies have shown that women react to sudden noises more quickly then men, and in response, tend to blink twice as hard and often as men.

Scientists have also found that blinking shuts down part of the brain, which could be why humans for the most part, do not notice they are blinking
