On Saturday, February 18, 2012, Sears invites you to participate and join fellow Canadians in the Sears Great Canadian Chill, a polar bear swim established by Sears as an annual tradition that sees Canadians brave icy waters while raising money for an important cause. Proceeds from The Chill will support pediatric oncology research and treatment initiatives at BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH).
“The Sears Great Canadian Chill is one of the many ways Sears supports children and families living in the communities where we do business,” said Calvin McDonald, President and CEO, Sears Canada Inc. “Participating in the Sears Great Canadian Chill is a great way to bring families together for a day of fun while helping other families who are in the fight of their life.”
Canadians can log on to www.TheChill.ca and register to participate in the polar bear swim on their own, with friends or with family members and raise funds for the fight against this devastating disease. Spectators who just want to chill out and not take the plunge do not have to register.

“The Sears Great Canadian Chill is another wonderful example of how Sears is dedicated to supporting child health here in BC,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The funds raised by Sears and the event participants are having a real impact in the lives of children and families touched by childhood cancer.”
