The CMHA Simon Fraser is bringing it back!  Yup you guessed it, the second annual 5km Run And 2.5km Walk To Raise Awareness For Mental Health is back, and this year they hoping for a huge turnout.  The event is set for May 12th at 10am and everyone is invited to come out register for the race and enjoy the festivities.

Did you know: 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness and, according to a recent study, the national economy lost $51bn in 2008 alone as a result. The second leading cause of death among young people (16-24) is suicide; the leading cause of hospitalization among the active population (20-44) is mental illness.

The event will bring our community together in support of healthy minds, healthy bodies, mental health awareness, and stigma reduction. The 2.5km walk and 5km run will take place in Queen's Park, New Westminster on May 12th and draw participants from throughout the Lower Mainland. The upbeat family event will feature music, food, an art exhibition, and keynote addresses.

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Simon Fraser Branch serves 130 housing clients, more than 200 outreach clients, and a variable number of clients for other services each year. Their vision is mentally healthy people in a healthy society.
