On September 20, 2005, music history was made. After 2 and a half months of watching some of musics top talents vie for a chance to be their new front man, 80's dance rock group INXS handpicked Canadian born J.D. Fortune to be their new lead singer. Fortune won the reality TV show, "Rockstar: INXS", which pitted him against 14 other hopefuls to be the heir apparent to Michael Hutchence, INXS' former front man.

Fortune performed songs by Elvis Presley, Joe Cocker, and Nirvana throughout the TV show, with his most memorable performance being his week 1 remake of The Mama and Papa's smash hit, 'California Dreamin'.

Fortune only made one album with the group, which received mixed reviews. After being kicked out of the group in early 2009, Fortune rejoined the group in 2010.
